Description: Records of life and death events in snow are rarly seen. Crystals delicate enough to illustrate an event are usually too ephemeral to survive long. This story of a bird dropping out of the sky, catching a mouse, and flying away with it survived several hours before the wind came up and erased it. The mouse had been hopping along the top of the two foot snow pack, visiting the few grass stems that still showed above the snow. It must have seen the bird coming, because it took a hard left turn and got six jumps before the end.
