Blotched Tiger Salamander
$100.00 – $1,500.00
There are only four species of amphibians in Yellowstone Park: two species of frogs, one toad, and this blotched tiger salamander. All amphibians begin their lives as eggs, then hatch to become aquatic gill-breathing larva or tadpoles which then metamorphose into lung-breathing terrestrial adults. Salamanders in the larval stage have large feathery gills behind their heads and will reach adult size before becoming lung-breathing and terrestrial. They hibernate in underground burrows.
