Cottonwoods and Bull Elk in the Lamar Valley
$100.00 – $1,500.00
Frost forms on the cottonwoods along the Lamar Valley from moisture in the fog drifting down the river below Specimen Ridge and the high reaches of the Absaroka Mountains. When it is still and cold the frost sometimes accumulates over one inch thick in complex feathery structures like miniature, powdery ferns. The three bull elk on the south side of the Lamar River were pawing through the frost and snow looking for a little to eat in the shade below an ancient river terrace.
