When a coyote needs a nap it will find a place with good visibility in order
to see any approaching threat. In the winter a coyote will often choose an
open expanse of snow. On this quiet, clear morning there was no need to
huddle out of the wind against a sagebrush, so this coyote wandered along
until she decided this spot was just right. Then she tramped around several
times in a tight circle, lay down, and put her tail over her nose–leaving
the whole story written on the snow.
