Great Blue Heron Grooming
$100.00 – $1,500.00
After hunting in the nearby stream and getting its head wet stabbing for fish, this great blue heron hopped up on a dry stick and groomed itself. The cleanup included delicately scratching its soggy bedraggled head with one foot while balancing on its other foot. Even professional ballet dancers cannot do this. Great blue herons are summer residents, seasonally occupying most of North America below the limit of the taiga. They feed on aquatic wildlife, including frogs, fish, and insects, and occasionally on mice and other small, terrestrial wildlife.
