Lower Falls, Winter Mist

$100.00 – $1,500.00

Clear
Item # 34900 Category: Waterfalls
  • Description

The Lower Falls of the Yellowstone is 309 feet high. At the bottom of the falls the river hits a layer of rock and ricochets out, producing clouds of mist. This mist freezes into a giant cone of ice, its size dependent on the intensity and duration of the winter. The cone usually reaches a height of 150 feet, but during a long, cold winter it can approach 200 feet, about as tall as a twenty-story building.
