Description

Bighorn sheep are gregarious herbivores. Their habitat is along rugged cliffs. Security from predators comes from their graceful ability to negotiate these dizzying places, although two of the main causes of their mortality are avalanches and falls. The name bighorn comes from the large spiraled horns of the mature male or ram. Females, or ewes, also have horns, but they are much smaller.
