On a perfectly clear, cold morning, occasionally conditions are right to see diamond dust in the air. Diamond dust is humidity freezing into tiny needle shaped ice crystals that are so light they drift up and down and all around you. You will think you are imagining them at first. When you look toward a light source, like the gold sun here, they will become backlit crystals and sparkle all around you and form a column of twinkling specks from the sun to the ground.
