Description
Cow elk are more attentive to danger in the Spring and early summer than at anytime of year because of concern for the safety of their calves. These two mature cows stood shoulder to shoulder and kept watch over the group of calves running and playing. In order to maintain a constant assessment of all this acitivity, they had to keep turning their heads back and forth in all directions.
