Description

Tilting its head to help pinpoint the sounds of a small rodent busy in the grass, this owl waited intently on a low perch until it was sure of its prey. It flew out above it, stalled, tipped forward, and fell into the grass with its feet smashing into the deep grass in order to squeeze the life out of the startled, unfortunate mouse. When the disheveled, crashed owl felt that the mouse was dead, it wiggled its head down into the grass and plucked the dead mouse out head first. After looking around for a quick check to see if anything nearby might steal it, the owl made a couple of jerks of its head to arrange the mouse and drop off stray grass stems. It flipped its head up and swallowed the mouse head first in four gulps.
