Description
Hunting for rodents in the late afternoon this great gray owl floated silently off a nearby low branch and smacked into the deep grass. It disappeared for several seconds behind a log, then peeked over it while steadily holding its position, checking to see if anyone else might want its meal. It had a rodent in its feet and was squeezing the life out of it. Then it bent down and untangled the now dead mouse from the grass and its toes, and swallowed it quickly with its beak pointed in the air.
