Description
Glacially formed hills in the Hayden Valley seem reshaped every winter by large snowdrifts built on their downwind slopes. The winds create drifts with swoops and curves, sharp edges and smooth arcs and textures of ripples, bumps and lines. The hills are graphically much more interesting in the winter than the rest of the year. The durable little lodgepole pine stands below these drifts, illustrating the size and extent of the winter sculptures.
