Description

Stevenson Island, named after a member of the 1871 Hayden survey party, is the second largest of the seven islands in Yellowstone Lake. It is a low sliver of land about one mile long, seen here as a row of trees in the fog. Mount Chittenden rises ten miles beyond the island on the eastern boundary of the park.
