There is very little wind at this spot on Soda Butte Creek so the snow piles up on the rocks and forms snow pillows. The same rocks are always there yet the pillows are different each year and can vary a lot even from week to week. The underlying rocks are from six inches to four feet in diameter. I.call this particular abstract my Norwegian beach scene. One of the interesting things about abstracts is that the sense of scale disappears. In a good abstract, pure form maintains the viewer’s interest. It will not matter what the thing is, but it is still interesting to find out. These snow pillows are about two feet high, it is about ten feet from the foreground to the back of the image.
