Description

Bull elk lose their antlers in April and immediately start to grow them back. By early summer their antlers are at least half grown and still covered with a short dense fuzz called velvet. Mature bull elk generally segregate themselves from the cows, calves, and young bulls throughout the year except for the month or so of mating season in the fall.
